Former WIP (610-AM) host Jody McDonald (1990-1999) is competing against his former radio team as part of the WYSP (94.1-FM) pre-game show before Eagles games.

McDonald, a native New Yorker, left WIP to join his hometown station WFAN-AM, where he co-hosts the 10 am - 1 p.m. show.

Though he no longer works full time in Philadelphia, McDonald continues to reside in the Delaware Valley, driving 195 miles round trip every day from Marlton, N.J., to New York City. McDonald said he is more comfortable doing "sportstalk," on WFAN than "guy talk" on WIP.

FISH TALES

See Wrightstown's Steve Ruane and his business, "Fish N Tales" bait and tackle shop, with Mark Drucker on "Golfshots" on Comcast SportsNet at 8 tonight. Besides working as a reporter for the show, Drucker, formerly known as "Mark the Shark" from his days on WMMR-FM, is a reporter for KYW-AM.

MERRILL'S GOOOOOOD

This week's "Sports Illustrated" magazine paints a pretty picture of Eagles play-by-play man Merrill Reese. Raving that the WYSP-FM presentation is "The NFL's most enjoyable radio broadcast," S.I. writer Richard Deitsch adds that Reese is "as much a Philadelphia staple as the cheesesteak." In the article Reese said, "This is my greatest passion. They'll have to pry me out of the booth. I'll never retire."

ARLI$$ MAKES THE CUT

HBO has renewed "Arli$$" for a seventh season. The comedy series about a sports agent stars Robert Wuhl. The executive producer is Havertown's Mike Tollin. Last season, Hugh Douglas of the Eagles made a cameo in an episode.

EAGLES SURVIVE FRIENDLY COMPETITION

6ABC couldn't have scheduled the Eagles-Chiefs game better itself. The Thursday night game was the day after November sweeps ended, so it didn't compete against new episodes of "Friends" or "Survivor." The Eagles' victory scored a 21 rating/30 share. Each rating point equals 28,010 homes.

MILLER LIGHTWEIGHT

During Monday night's Green Bay-Jacksonville game, full-time wise guy and part time football analyst Dennis Miller evidently didn't know his microphone was open and was heard asking if "Williams was the Washington quarterback?" a few moments before he made a comment comparing 1980s Redskins QB Doug Williams to Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre.

A FROSTY FOR THE WINNER

ESPN will televise the 67th "Heisman Trophy Presentation," sponsored by Wendy's, at 7 p.m. tomorrow from the Marriott Marquis in Midtown Manhattan.

W.C. FIELDS' WORST NIGHTMARE

The CBS announcing team of Dick Enberg and Dan Dierdorf could have stayed in town all week. Last week they did the Army-Navy game on Saturday and returned to the Vet for the San Diego-Eagles game on Sunday.
