CHANNEL SURFING Bookstores stock up for 'Hurricane' WCAU's Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz's "The Philadelphia Weather Book" hits bookstores in June By LAURA NACHMAN Yet another Philadelphia
television personality has a book on the way. WCAU's Glenn
"Hurricane" Schwartz's "The Philadelphia Weather
Book" hits bookstores in June and can be pre-ordered on amazon.com.
Written with fellow meteorologist , Jon Nese of the Franklin
Institute, the book talks about this region's weather and climate, which
includes statistics about our snowiest winter, hottest summer, and more.
Schwartz joins authors Larry Kane (KYW), who wrote "Larry Kane's
Philadelphia" and is writing a book about the Beatles, and WPVI's
Rob Jennings, who wrote a fictional novel, "Krista." By the
way, the photo of Jennings on his book was taken by WPVI anchor Marc
Howard (who knew?)
Meanwhile, WPVI's Rose Tibayan remains on the shelf, as she was
suspended from the station for attempting to write a resource book.
To pre-order Schwartz's book from Amazon.com go to http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1566399564/qid=1020285433/sr=8-1/phillyburbs-20
THE GOOD GUYS AND THE BAD GUYS GO TECHNO
Speaking of weather, WPVI's newest "toy" is "Stormtracker
6." The live radar system debuted on "Action News" this
week.
DON'T CHALLENGE HER IN TRIVIAL PURSUIT
The latest hire at WCAU has some serious academic credentials. Aditi
Roy, who joins the station as a general assignment reporter in May, has
degrees from Columbia University, Stanford University and University of
California, Berkley. She arrives from KHQ-TV in Spokane, Wash. Roy can
talk about the great northwest with fellow new hire Tiffany McElroy who
was in Portland, Ore., before starting at WCAU.
A WEDDING STORY
A Levittown couple will become the first pair to get married on the
syndicated "Judge Mathis" this week. The aptly named Aaron
Rice III and Angela Pressley say "I do" Monday on WPSG-57.
"Judge Mathis" airs at 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. on WPSG. No word if
they'll be spending their honeymoon on "Temptation Island."
In anticipation of the "Honey-mooners 50th Anniversary
Special" on KYW Monday night, WPSG will air the top 10 episodes on
Sunday from 5 - 10 p.m. WPSG and KYW are both owned by Viacom.
THE BRICK WALL LIVES
A new stand-up comedy series "Comcast Comedy Spotlight: Road
Trip 2002" debuts on CN8 in June. The aptly named Bob Zany hosts.
Wonder if it will produce as many laughs as when Craig Weber does the
weather? ... Contrary to what was reported last week, former WTXF
"Ten O'clock News" anchor Jill Chernekoff is 45 and Rich
Noonan is 40.
