Glenn Macnow, WIP 610-AM host, is the co-author of a book for the Philadelphia sports fan for the second consecutive fall.

"The Great Philadelphia Sports Debate," co-written by WIP's Angelo Cataldi, takes two sides of topics such as:

Who is the best coach in Philadelphia history.
Who is better - Allen Iverson or Dr. J?
Was the Vet a Dump?Macnow co-wrote last year's best seller "The Great Philadelphia Fan Book" with fellow WIP host Anthony Gargano.

Macnow, a former reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer, revived his writing career after moving to the evening shift on WIP a couple of years ago. With most of his days free and his two sons in college, Macnow also began another side job, college professor at Saint Joseph's University, where he teaches "Introduction to Journalism."

"Professor" Macnow can be heard Tuesdays through Fridays from 7-11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. with Ray Didinger (one of my favorite teams on the station), and after Eagles' games this fall.

He will be signing copies of his new book from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Borders Express at the Springfield Mall in Delaware County.

Witching hour

Fans can relive all 162 Phillies games in an hour - 37 seconds per game - on "The Season" at 10 p.m. Monday on ESPN2.

700 Club

"This Week in Baseball" airs its 700th episode at 12:30 p.m. Saturday on WTXF.

Back on the air

For listeners who have noticed that Garry Cobb has been on WIP more often, it's no coincidence. In an e-mail, Cobb wrote: "I'm on WIP more because [former program director] Tom Bigby is gone. Tom and I didn't have the best relationship. I'm happy to be working on WIP much more."

Repeat performance

For the second week in a row, Dick Stockton, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa (The Moose and the Goose) will be broadcasting the Eagles' game. The Eagles-Bears game starts at 1 p.m. Sunday on Fox. Fox is trying to work sideline reporter Siragusa more into the broadcast by asking him questions after plays, instead of him filing straight reports, for which he is ill-equipped.

Ratings game

Last week's Eagles-Lions game was the top-rated show in town with a 28.7 rating/53 share of the audience. Each local rating point equals almost 29,000 households.

Reality roundup

Council Rock High School graduate Fred Bachmann is still alive in "The Next Great Champ" on Fox, which moves to Friday night beginning next week.

Brian Startare of Glassboro, N.J., survived another week on "Dream Job" on ESPN, Tuesday at midnight.

Dirty work

Former WCAU weekend sports anchor Joe Fowler (1988) stars in an infomercial for the spot removal towel "The Stain Stomper."

The Tribe has spoken

How dumb are those Fox radio commercials dubbing baseball as "The Ultimate Reality Show"?
