Clark cleans up at Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards
Bucks County Courier Times

Winning his first award since "my elementary school spelling bee," NBC10's John Clark was the big sports winner at the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards by taking home three trophies last Saturday night.

The NBC10 weekend sports anchor won for "Outstanding Sports News-Feature" for his report on Eagles' long snapper Mike Bartram, "Outstanding Sports Series" for "Philadelphia Eagles - Unfinished Business," and for "Outstanding Individual Achievement - Reporter/Sports."

Unfortunately, Clark didn't get to enjoy the black tie event at the Crystal Tea Room atop the Wanamaker Building in Center City because he was working.

"I didn't think I would win, and it's tough to get Saturday night off," said the junior member of the NBC10 sports department.

Clark, 27, said he received calls from former NBC10 news anchor Larry Mendte and current NBC10 news anchor Tim Lake informing him of his win.

Expect many more awards in the future for the Temple graduate, who is always fun to watch on NBC10.

Here were some of the other sports winners:

- Outstanding Sports Newscast: "Sportsnite," Comcast SportsNet

- Outstanding Live Sports Coverage/Series: "2002 Eagles Preseason," Eagles Television Network

-Outstanding Individual Achievment - Sports/Talk Program: Michael Barkann, Comcast SportsNet

- Outstanding Individual Achievement - Anchor/Sports: Matt Yallof, Comcast SportsNet

- Outstanding Individual Achievement - Reporter/Feature News: Fred Bibbo, Comcast SportsNet

- Outstanding Individual Achievement - Sports Play-By-Play or Color: Jim Jackson, Comcast SportsNet

Encore, encore

According to a source close to the situation, due to the success of "Playmakers," ESPN is looking for more scripted series and original programs.

How about "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" makeovers for Andy Reid and Bill Parcells?

Double fault?

The Tennis Channel will be airing the 30th anniversary of the "Battle of the Sexes" between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs tomorrow night. The only problem is that most of the region doesn't get the Tennis Channel yet.

This & that
