There’s no need to travel to “Laguna Beach.”  Learn about the lives of our own high school seniors on “The Upper Darby Project,” every other Friday during the 4 p.m. news on NBC10.

For the second year in a row, NBC10 will follow the lives of ten high school seniors through the school year.  Lauren Cohn hosts.  The reports can also be accessed on www.nbc10.com.

The students featured are Huda Ahmed, Jovan Custis, Elie Daniel, Hannah Horwitz, Genevieve Liberatore, Krishan Mittal, Matt Sherwood, Meredith Smith, James Taylor, and Bonnie Tress.

The next installment will air October 6th.

Marple-Newtown High School’s Adrian Pasdar is one of the “Heroes” on NBC, Mondays at 9 p.m. this season.  Pasdar guest-starred on a three-episode arc of “Desperate Housewives” last year. “Heroes” airs before “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” which was very good in its season opener last week.

Philadelphia resident and best selling author Jennifer Weiner talks about her latest book, “The Guy Not Taken” on “10” Friday at 10 a.m. on NBC10.  The movie adaptation of one of Weiner’s other efforts, “In Her Shoes,” is in rotation on HBO.

It was a great week for B101-FM.  It won the “Legendary Station” award at the “Radio and Records” Awards and came in first in the Arbitron ratings released Tuesday with a 7.4 share of the Philadelphia audience.  KYW 1060-AM was second with a 6.4 share and WDAS 105.3-FM was third with a 6.0 share. Power 99 was fourth with a 5.0 share and WOGL 98.1-FM was fifth with a 4.9 share.  The rest of the top twenty is WXTU 92.5-FM, WMMR 93.3-FM, WPHT 1210-AM, WJJZ 106.1-FM (which changed from Jazz to Adult Contemporary), WIOQ 102.1-FM, WBEN 95.7-FM, WPPZ 103.9-FM, WRNB 107.9-FM, WMGK 102.9-FM, WPHI 100.3-FM, WRDW 96.5-FM, WSNI 104.5-FM (which switched from A/C to Spanish), WIP 610-AM, WYSP 94.1-FM (which is still reeling from the loss of Howard Stern almost a year ago), and WTHK-FM.

“ER” began its 13th season on NBC with none of its original cast members – George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, Eriq LaSalle, Noah Wyle, Sherry Stringfield, and Anthony Edwards. The current cast is Maura Tierney, Goran Visnijic, Mehki Phifer, Paraminder Nagra, Shane West, Linda Cardellini, and John Stamos.

Grey Matters

The highly anticipated season premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy” beat “CSI” in the Thursday at 9 p.m. battle.

So far, my favorite new shows are “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” on NBC Monday at 10 p.m. and “Shark” on CBS Thursday at 10 p.m.
