Personalities from WMMR 93.3-FM and WMGK 102.9-FM are nominated for 2006 “Radio and Records” Industry Achievement Awards. The “Preston and Steve” show on WMMR is up for “Morning Show of the Year,” and the hosts, Preston and Steve are up for “Rock Personality.”  Afternoon drive host Andre Gardner of WMGK is nominated for “Classic Rock Personality.” Also, WMMR is nominated for “Rock Station of the Year.”  The winners will be announced September 21.

 

My new hero is comedian Lisa Lampenelli, who was the highlight of the “Roast of William Shatner” on Comedy Central two Sundays ago.  Actually, the entire 90-minute special was hysterical.  Clips can be accessed at www.comedycentral.com.

 

Philly’s David Boreanaz will talk up the new season of “Bones” on “Good Day Philadelphia” tomorrow (Wednesday) between 7 a.m. – 9 a.m.  Boreanaz is the son of 6ABC weather anchor Dave Roberts.

Meanwhile, Scott Engler, who was a weekend anchor in Washington, D.C. before joining “Good Day Philadelphia” last month was recently named one of the “Hottest Male On-Air” personalities on the media web site, www.mediabistro.com.  Engler finished in third place behind Washington based anchors John Hendren and Tucker Carlson.

 

It’s official, say “Ola” to the new Spanish 104.5-FM.   After a week or so of simulcasting sister station 106.1-FM, 104.5-FM changed to Spanish a few days ago.

“WOGL 98.1-FM will air a “Labor Day” edition of “I Love the 70’s” next weekend.

 

Recently appointed KYW 1060-AM news director Dee Patel got her radio start at WBCB 1490-AM in Bucks County.  WBCB is co-owned by Eagles' announcer Merrill Reese, who is going into his 30th year with the team.
