The fallout from Howard Stern’s departure from WYSP 94.1-FM continues in the local radio wars. In the Arbitron ratings for listeners 12 and above, rival station WMMR 93.3-FM enjoyed its highest ratings in over a year with a 5.3 share of the Philadelphia audience. Stern’s former station, WYSP, now known as Free-FM, gained a rating point after replacing Stern’s replacement, David Lee Roth with “Opie and Anthony” in the morning. It improved from a 1.7 to a 2.7 share. Also of note, WIOQ 102.1-FM featuring new morning man Chris Booker is slightly ahead of WRDW 96.5-FM, which features former WIOQ morning man Chio. Here are the rest of the top 20 stations:
Former WB17 weekday news anchor Toni Yates is the new New Jersey correspondent for WABC –7 in New York City. Yates worked for WB17 from 1994 until 2005. Industry insiders say she almost was hired for the morning anchor position that went to Tamala Edwards on 6ABC.
Former Fox29 personality Mike Jerrick is returning to the station, sort of, as the co-host of the new Fox national morning show that is set to launch on 25-Fox stations in January. There is no title for the new show. It will air at 9 a.m. Jerrick co-hosted “Good Day Philadelphia” from 1999 – 2002. He’s been with the Fox News Channel since.
