At Monday's "Coaches vs. Cancer" breakfast at the Palestra, 6ABC sports director Gary Papa, 51, announced to those in attendance that the prostate cancer that he had two years ago returned in January, and that he is once again undergoing treatment for the disease.

 

Papa could not be reached for comment, but a 6ABC spokesperson said, "As always, Gary Papa has the full love and support of his Channel 6 family as he continues his battle with prostate cancer."

 

Papa, joined 6ABC in 1981 as weekend sports anchor.  He became weekday sports anchor in 1990.  He is married and has two sons.
