Longtime radio personality Mark “The Shark” Drucker died Wednesday morning of cancer at the age of 48.  He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of melanoma in September of 2004.

Drucker contributed the entertainment reports “The Buzz” for KYW 1060-AM from 1997 until his illness.  In the mid-80’s, he was part of the popular “Morning Zoo” show on WMMR 93.3-FM with John DeBella, now of WMGK 102.9-FM.

DeBella, who worked with Drucker in radio in Long Island and brought him to WMMR said, “This should’ve never happened to someone this young.  This is terrible.  He was such a gentle soul.  This is a big hole in the Philadelphia broadcast fabric.”

Drucker also worked with Howard Stern in Westchester County, New York in 1978 and co-hosted David Brenner’s syndicated radio show in the mid-90’s.

A resident of Newtown in Bucks County, Drucker was a contributor to the “Bucks County Courier Times” a few years ago.

He is survived by his fiancée, Jill LeClair, and his 11-year-old daughter, Kendall.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday.
