Bye Vai?
WCAU sports director Vai Sikahema, 42, is a
contender for the athletic director position at his alma mater Brigham Young
University in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sikahema played football for the University until
1986 and is still "very connected" with BYU, where his son is a
freshman this year.
In a phone conversation Sikahema said although the
idea of returning to his old school is intriguing, with three of his
children still in school here and two years left on his Channel 10 contract,
the timing isn't right.
Sikahema is scheduled to interview for the
position in the upcoming weeks. He added that the interview is more for the
"experience."
Another factor is salary. Sikahema is
estimated to make between $250,000 and $500,000 at Channel 10. The
salary at BYU would be considerably lower (but the kids would get free
tuition).
BYU was a football powerhouse in the 80's with
quarterbacks such as Jim McMahon, Steve Young, and Gifford Nielson. However,
it just suffered its third consecutive losing season.
Bye Jenn?
So where has "Good Day Philadelphia"
host Jennaphr Frederick been this week? She's been working for
New York's WNYW for former WTXF news director Scott Matthews who is in
charge of the New York Fox affiliate.
Sources say that Frederick, who many credit with
the ratings increase for "Good Day Philadelphia," will eventually join
her former boss in New York.
